This was our last day on the island. After a very funny incident involving a sandcastle, a group of (formerly waving and smiling) shocked college students, and a 4x4, we arrived at Lake McKenzie, one of the more popular attractions on the island. It's inland a ways but was pretty crowded.
All of the guys hopped into the crystal clear water and a game of 500 quickly turned into a game of rugby, with some of the locals giving us tips on rules. Anarchy turned into a decent game of pounding the crap out of each other.
The majority of the beach was watching this, it was quite the spectacle to see all these guys splashing around and making a ton of noise.
It was time to get back to the ferry, so we piled back into the car, one more time. For the hell of it, I took the trail pretty fast. On the way down, we probably averaged 15-20km/hr. Here, we were probably averaging just over the speed limit of 35km/hr, only slowing for the really big ruts. Also, apparently, the car behind us got a nice picture of me hopping this thing into the air. (still trying to chase that down). This little sprint was a blast for everyone in the car, sans head bruises.
I was the only driver not to get the car stuck or bogged on the island. The girls got stuck everywhere they went. That's all I will say about that.
After the ferry, the theme of the guys leaving last and arriving first continues, as we beat everyone to the camp shed. We were supposed to head straight back to the hostel but we ended up taking a serious detour in search of Hungry Jack's. After everyone had two double whoppers, we found ourselves a bit lost but managed to get back without serious issue. We called it a "victory lap". Success. We collected our things and climbed onto a bus again at 8:30PM.
