Spring Break 2008: TAKE TWO!

As I mentioned in a previous blog, I have a pretty awesome spring break trip planned. I'm currently killing some time in an internet cafe in Airlie Beach, Queensland, so I thought I'd at least start this monster post.

First of all, I need to mention that I am having the time of my life. Also, I just got hired by UW-Platteville as a blogger. That's right, for some unfathomable reason, I am now paid to do this. Thus, the frequency of my posting will probably increase.

DAY 1 - Newcastle, New South Wales

Plans for the first day were simple, meet at the Brewery bar around 7:30PM, get checked in, have a few beers, and then hop on the 9PM Greyhound bus for an overnight 9 hour sprint up to Byron Bay.

The first part of this worked wonderfully. I drank some beers. 9PM rolls around, as does the greyhound. We have 31 people on this trip. The greyhound has 6 free seats. This is a problem. After about 30 minutes of not knowing what was going to happen, STA booked us a replacement bus. Great! (except for the part where the bus arrived at 2AM). A good lot of us headed to a friend's house that was nearby where a good amount of ethanol was consumed, followed by a walk back to the bus station. I slept most of the trip as a result and we finally arrived at 1PM, a little bit later than the original 7AM estimate!

To be continued....
